Technical Training

In the field of technical training, we have carried out various challenging projects for various manufacturers, for example an online training for 5000 participants for the launch of the telemetry technology "OnStar" for Opel as well as educating the federal and European online trainers for Ford's technical area. You will get on this page a small excerpt from the projects that we have been successfully planned and implemented in the last 20 years. Also, an overview of our sales training projects can be seen here. Various projects are a hybrid of technical and sales training, as the increase in sales is often coupled with a deeper understanding of technology. The reason is that a successful sales argumentation in the automotive sector is based on the easy-to-understand communication of technical innovations. That's why you'll find some of our projects in both Technique Training and Sales Training. This includes our project for Harley Davidson. A brief description of the project as well as the feedback from the Regional Training Manager EMEA of Harley Davidson Europe Ltd. can therefore be found both here and in our sales training overview.

Technical Training - Virtual Classroom Trainings (VCTSs) & Online Trainings

Challenge: conception of an online-training for 5000 participants for the market launch of telemetry technology “OnStar”

Project schedule: In order to introduce the new "OnStar" technology to the market launch, more than 5000 participants from all over Germany had to familiarize themselves with the modern online technology of the system - including sales and technical staff. Due to the complexity of "OnStar" and the high number of participants, the project spanned over a period of 2.5 years and consisted of several seminar modules, which were taught in a three-stage model - to ensure that the participants internalized the knowledge imparted and ready themselves for the next step, a learning control was performed at the end of each step. In a first stage, "OnStar" was fully explained as part of a virtual classroom training (VCT) in order to convey in-depth know-how in the following two stages. After successfully communicating the basics and how the system works, attendees were also able to understand online seminars that dealt in detail with "OnStar" software updates - resulting in a full understanding of the new technology, which enabled the participants to gain the newly acquired knowledge also to convey to the end customer and thus to use for sales increase.

Conclusion: The 2.5-year project was designed and carried out by Mario Domsel - Through intensive engagement with "OnStar" a smooth transfer of knowledge was ensured, which led to a high degree of satisfaction on the participants point of view. They were able to make their newly acquired knowledge fruitful in practice, so that the market launch went smoothly despite the complexity of the new system, and the sales and after sales staff were able to operate the new system from the outset in a routine manner.

Challenge: Preparation of the market launch of the Opel Ampera

Project schedule: Following the successful completion of the online market preparation for the Chevrolet VOLT, Mr. Domsel was commissioned to design a Virtual Classroom Training for the launch of the Opel Ampera. Here, too, Mr Domsel was confronted with the challenge of bringing the participants closer to the new technology in general and to the specifics of a new product. This included the teaching of new lines of argument to ensure sales success.

Conclusion: As part of this project, the trading partners were also able to prepare for distribution of the new product, enabling them to present it competently and respond to customer queries in a sovereign manner.

Challenge: Training “technology for sellers” (since 2009 until today)

Project schedule: The goal of these specific technology trainings is to explain both the salespersons and the commercial staff members the technology used in a car so that they can confidently and easily communicate that knowledge to potential customers. In order to be able to guarantee the mediation to the end customer, it is necessary to provide the employees with a deeper understanding of the technology, which is why topics such as the drive of the engine, the transmission and the powertrain are the subject of the training. This also includes getting to know all "electronic helpers" that are installed in the vehicle in order to understand how they function and to be able to operate them correctly. In order to ensure the “up-to-dateness” of the training, this is always brought up to date - this implies the continuous training by the trainer to ensure the quality of the training. Since the project not only conveys complex contents, but also demands a high degree of flexibility from the coaches, only adequately experienced coaches are brought in here who have the technical and sales background.

Conclusion: Due to his technical training and more than 10 years of active sales experience, Mr. Domsel has been involved in this project, demonstration again and again that he can convey complex contents in an easily comprehensible way and that he can also prepare seminar contents in an exciting way . Thereby, the know-how is efficiently transported during the training.

Technical Training - Virtual Classroom Training & Launch

Challenge: product launch of Chevrolet VOLT

Project schedule: Due to his many years of experience in the automotive industry, Mr. Domsel was entrusted with the preparation and delivery of Virtual Classroom trainings for the market launch of the Chevrolet VOLT and, in the course of this, with the launch of the product. The main tasks were to discover the target audience, to communicate the driving experience and to have a basic understanding of the technology used and the development of sales arguments.

Conclusion: The combination of online and live training proved to be extremely fruitful in conveying the knowledge required for market introduction and enabled the participants to successfully launch the product on the market.

Challenge: Nationwide training of all Chevrolet Aftersales employees

Project schedule: Looking for a fast and interactive way to train staff efficiently, Chevrolet decided to collaborate with Mario Domsel (once again in the form of virtual classroom training). Specifically, it was a matter of communicating not only decisive innovations in the EDP system but also a new approach to customer acceptance. The latter required the training of new, more efficient processes - here Mr. Domsel's many years of experience in automotive sales paid off. Due to his expertise in this field and professional preparation, he was able to provide dealers and employees with the necessary specialist knowledge. The interactive design made it possible to ask the participants about all trained contents as well as an immediate implementation in practice and thus ensured their learning success.

Conclusion: Instead of working with explanatory videos, the VCT was preferred because the interactive design of a VCT leads to faster learning success, especially for more complex problems: Each participant can be picked up, where he stands with his knowledge, he is able to bring in questions and to immediate test implementation of the learned in practice.

Technical Training - Virtual Classroom Trainings (VCTs)

Challenge: “Train the Trainer” – nationwide training of online-trainers for the technical sector

Project schedule: In the course of introducing a new training module at Ford Germany, Mr. Domsel's job was to train the responsible coaches for online training. The main focus was on teaching prospective online coaches the difference in knowledge transfer (classroom training vs. online training). They were also trained in using a Virtual Classroom platform and in creating online presentations for their own VCTs. In addition to the theoretical part, what was learned was also actively tested by creating and presenting presentations with subsequent feedback.

Conclusion: The project qualified face-to-face trainers to conduct professional online training, enabling them to share their acquired knowledge within the company with other trainers.

Challenge: “Train the Trainer” – Europe-wide training of online-trainers for the technical sector

Project schedule: Following the successful completion of the "Train the Trainer" project for the German-speaking region, the Europe-wide training of online coaches was on the agenda. Since the contents developed for the German-speaking area had proven to be fruitful, these were retained. - The specific challenge, however, was to successfully convey the contents despite the most diverse knowledge levels of the participants, so that the know-how transfer could be guaranteed despite different degrees of proficiency in English.

Conclusion: Due to Mr. Domsel's many years of experience in the field of coaching and dealing with online platforms, he was able to qualify all trainers according to the manufacturer's ideas for conducting online training.

Challenge: Model change – synchronous communication of technical novelties

Project schedule: To increase the sales figures, all Harley Davidson dealers from Germany, Austria and Switzerland were to be made familiar with the latest technical modalities at the same time as the model year change. Therefore, a way had to be found to transfer the efficiency of the previously performed live trainings to an online seminar. Direction and conception were handled by Mario Domsel, who prepared the content of the live training sessions in a digital way - including the involvement of a Harley Davidson technician and all the product managers of the individual lines during the entire online training were. So Mr. Domsel was able to lead through the training, while for specific technical questions the experts were available. This procedure ensured a fast and efficient know-how transfer and saved not only time, but also costs.

Conclusion: The online training was rated positively by the participants - This success led to the fact that in the company Harley Davidson online seminars are held to this day.

Hello Mr. Domsel,
Thanks again for your very professional implementation. Although I've only seen half a session, I find that you are very easy and confident with our dealers.
This is also reflected in the feedback. Sometimes, just do it. This is such a case.
I am also looking forward to our continued cooperation.
... And we can get it with the right bike.
Many greetings,
Jörg Schmidt
